Supporting Migrant Workers Children - Chiguru and Moggu

Chiguru is a bridge school for children of migrant labourers currently working at construction sites in Freedom Land. Moggu is a day care center for smaller children. The goal is to provide a safe and joyful learning environment for these children while addressing their growth needs – nutritional, physical, motor, mental, emotional, and social.

Every child deserves a nurturing environment and a joyful space for learning. But 4,000,000 children under the age of six live in slums and labour camps and miss out on opportunities to learn and grow. The Healing Circle strives to change that and provide every child access to a healing and nurturing space where they can grow to their fullest potential. Chiguru is one of our projects that aims to do that for children of migrant labourers.

This school for children of ages 3 to 13 years, started in November 2021 with 3 children and has grown to more than 35 children. Children have blossomed as their hygienic, clothing, nutritional, spiritual, physical, and mental needs are addressed. Currently, we have supported the program through the help of a few individual well-wishers. The program's success is evident in its increasing strength, high attendance, and low dropout rates.

Funds raised are being used to address various growth needs of each child: nutritional, healthcare, and counseling needs, emotional and social well-being support, teaching-learning support through materials, and teacher and helper remuneration.
